Beecham House episode 2 preview: What’s ahead for Tom Bateman, cast

Beecham House

Today on ITV, you are getting a chance to see the premiere of Beecham House, a series that the network firmly expects to be one of their next big things — and understandably so. This is a show that is packing in a lot of content and bringing to the table much of what you love about other great period dramas. You’re going to see complex relationships, powerful estates, and difficult alliances. John Beecham (Tom Bateman) is at the center of it all and there are questions aplenty — think in terms of his family, the arrival of his mother, and the parentage of his child. These are all things that could play out over the course of the remaining five episodes.

The first thing to note about Beecham House episode 2 is simply a matter of its air date and time. Unlike several other series, you’re not having to wait a full week in order to see what’s next! The series is going to be coming up in one day’s time with the next installment and you’ll get to dive into this world once again.

Below, CarterMatt offers up some additional Beecham House scoop in the form of the episode 2 synopsis:

Reports come through that Daniel is in Kannauj where the East India Company have set up a military base camp. The camp is deemed by many, including General Castillon, to be a direct provocation. John’s brother, Daniel is found in a brothel drowning his sorrows. It’s many years since the brothers have seen each other and it becomes clear that they have a troubled past.

As Henrietta struggles to adapt to life in India she is shaken by the arrival of Chandrika who challenges her for control of the household. Her spirits are lifted by Daniel’s return as the Beecham family is reunited.

Clearly attracted to John, Margaret reconsiders her plans to return to England. However, after an upsetting meeting with Henrietta and Chandrika, Margaret wonders if she has made a mistake.

Baadal is smitten by Chanchal, but she only has eyes for Daniel.

For much of episode 2, we could still be seeing an adjustment period for some of these characters in Indiana. John and his brother have a lot of important discussions coming up and, beyond that, we imagine that some further twists are coming. Nothing at Beecham House should be precisely what it seems; that is, after all, the roadmap to this series becoming a success. When you think about Downton Abbey, another ITV series that rose to prominence all over the world, it was able to combine period drama with some fantastic twists and turns. It managed to keep you guessing and speculating at just about every turn.
