The Son season 2 episode 10 (finale) spoilers: Eli’s legacy
Still, we don’t quite think that we’re ready to say goodbye to this series — whether it be now or at some other point in the future. There’s still so much that needs to be done, and so many boxes that still need to be checked off. We want to see precisely how the story of Eli is going to end, or at least what the closing chapter for us as viewers of The Son is going to look like. He’s going to be doing battle with Standard Oil once and for all and on the other side of it, there could be shockwaves. These are ones that should end up carrying through
Below, CarterMatt offers up the official The Son season 2 episode 10 synopsis with some more news all about what’s ahead:
In 1852, Young Eli is forced into a life-changing decision; in 1916, Eli wages a final war with Standard Oil, forcing a confrontation with Pete.
This obvious thing that we hope with this episode is that we get a good sense of just what sort of mark Eli leaves, one last time, on some of the people who are around him … and that we get a good bit of evidence that the world is actually changing. That is something that we’ve seen many of the women on this show especially hope for over the years. They’ve seen the brutality of it and dealt with sexism and forced to suffer in silence.
Even though Eli has found a considerable amount of success in his life, there’s one thing that it feels fairly clear he has not been able to find: Peace for those around him. Money and success can’t buy it, especially when you’re either A) constantly doing battle with oil companies or B) constantly being watched by everyone else because of who you are. It is one of the perils of coming from society.
