Instinct season 2 episode 3 spoilers: Lizzie confronts her past

Instinct

Isn’t it nice to know that we’re finally on the cusp of Instinct season 2 premiering on CBS? It does feel like forever ago when the show first launched so because of that, we’ve been left waiting, rocking back and forth and hoping for more information. We know that season 2 will bring forward new cases for Dylan and Lizzie, but also some more personal stories at the same time. We already know that Dylan will be doing everything he can to adopt a child with his husband Andy, and by the time episode 3 (entitled “Finders Keepers”) rolls around on July 14, the couple will be getting closer to making their dream a reality.

Yet, this isn’t everything that you’re going to see within this episode as Lizzie takes on some issues with her past — hopefully, with a little bit of help along the way. Check out the official synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below with more news as to what we’re talking about here:

“Finders Keepers” – Lizzie and Dylan work a case that provokes deep emotions for them when a 9-year-old boy goes missing on the eve of a judge’s decision in a bitter custody battle. Also, with Dylan’s help, Lizzie confronts some of her past childhood demons, and a major advancement presents itself in Dylan and Andy’s adoption search, on INSTINCT, Sunday, July 14 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

One way or another, it’s possible that this case will have an enormous impact on both of our main characters. There’s clearly something about it that shakes up Lizzie from what she went through when she was little. For Dylan, meanwhile, it may spawn some insecurity. He’s at this point in his life now where he’s eager to become a father and he probably will be a great one. Yet, in the midst of whatever confidence he has, there is also a certain degree of insecurity that may come with it. What if he and Andy end up being in this position down the road where their relationship falls apart? What happens to their potential son or daughter? There are a lot of things that this episode could leave them thinking about, but we certainly still have a lot of faith in their ability to make it through any conflict that’s coming up.

The most important thing that Instinct season 2 can pull off is a continued combination of great personal moments and exceptional cases. If it sprinkles those throughout the season, creatively it’s going to be successful — we just need to see now if viewers actually respond to the show and give it some of the ratings respect it deserves. After such a significantly long layoff, it’s understandable to have a little bit of concern.
