The Good Doctor season 3 filming officially underway
In a new post on Twitter (see below), executive producer Sebastian Lee confirmed the good news with a photo — it’s not a particularly spoilery photo (which is good because CarterMatt is not an overly spoilery type of site), but it tells you what you need to know. It’s going to take a little bit of time for more information to come out on the season, which will be filming for the better part of the year.

When season left off, we saw that Shaun Murphy and Aaron Glassman were moving into some different spots in their lives. When it comes to Shaun, he managed to get his job back at the end of season 2; yet, there will still be scrutiny. Everyone at the St. Bonaventure Hospital recognizes his strengths as a surgeon, but also his weaknesses when it comes to his bedside manner. They understand that his autism does create issues here and there at the hospital, but they recognize both his ability and also his intention.
For Dr. Glassman, there is a chance coming up for him to return to the hospital and hopefully get back to some of what he loves. Season 2 was such an emotional gut-punch for him since everything he felt comfortable with was taken from him — from his job to his routine. His friendship with Shaun helped to get him through and now he’s engaged and hopeful for the future — no matter how much time he has. The cancer seems to be gone for the time being, but we think he’s certainly aware of the reality it could come back.
Romance will be a factor in this show moving forward — just remember what’s happening with Shaun and Carly! It’s just not going to be the only factor. The Good Doctor will likely remain about medicine first and foremost, and there are some exciting medical storylines to come given that Dr. Lim is now Chief of Surgery and has more say in every aspect of what these doctors do.
The Good Doctor does not have a formal premiere date yet — but neither does any other ABC show. Odds are, you’ll see Freddie Highmore and the rest of the cast back in late September.
