The 100 season 6 episode 8 will be arriving to The CW next week with the feel of a parable to it. After all, the very title for it, “The Old Man and the Anomaly,” seems to be a reference to The Old Man and the Sea. Sure, both the Old Man and an anomaly are actually important cogs to the season 6 story, but if you can make a literary reference, why wouldn’t you want to do just that? It’s following up “Nevermind,” arguably one of the most artistic and experimental episodes the show has done. We’ve got a feeling that the entire writing staff had some fun stretching their wings with that one.
For Octavia and Diyoza, it really seems like this story is about one move after the next. Move #1 revolves around finding the anomaly; then, it’s about understanding its secret and then trying to locate the Old Man afterwards. This is a season about new frontiers and welcoming them … while also still being incredibly fearful of what they could mean.

Meanwhile, Murphy (Richard Harmon) has an offer for Emori (guest star Luisa d’Oliveira). Eliza Taylor, Bob Morley, Paige Turco, Lindsey Morgan, Tasya Teles and Shannon Kook star. The episode was directed by April Mullen and written by Miranda Kwok (#608). Original airdate 6/25/2019.
So why not give us more of the goods on Clarke?
Remember that this synopsis was written weeks ago, long before the story of “Nevermind” even began to take shape. If Clarke is back within this episode from within the mindscape, nobody needs to know that in advance. Even if she is back, you have to figure that she is not exactly the same. The 100 is a series that does thrive and revel in allowing new twists to root in and sprout. Did you ever imagine we’d be where we are now even two years ago … let alone three or four years back? The same can be said looking forward — where we are now is almost certainly not going to be close to where we are at the end of the season, and we’re really not that far away from it at this point. Remember that there are only 13 episodes in this season!
One last thing that we should note here is that following “The Old Man and the Anomaly,” The 100 will be taking a short break. There is no new episode airing on July 2 (blame the Fourth of July for that); you’ll have a chance to better witness what’s next on July 9.
