If you look below, you can get a glimpse of Freddie Highmore and some of the rest of the cast starting to reconvene! These first few days bring that whole first-day-of-school feeling to the max where you’re seeing a lot of your old friends after your summer vacation and you have a chance to do some fantastic world together. We’ll hopefully see some hints from actual production soon, as there are a lot of interesting things this season could be focusing on.
What are some of those things? Think along the lines of Shaun’s attempts to start a new relationship with Carly for starters. Him asking her out was such an enormous move for him, given that it represented him putting himself out there and making a move that, for most of his life, he hasn’t been able to quite figure out. He had something with Lea at one point, but that’s now in the past … or is it? That’s another part of where things get interesting since the show will need to determine precisely how to dive further into some of these waters now that he is interested in someone else. Could it cause Lea to think differently about her relationship with him? It’s certainly not something we could rule out.
As for back at the hospital, it would be great to see Dr. Glassman back at work and, beyond just that, have an opportunity in order to fully see what his life is like now that he is well on the road to recovery — and has a very different romantic future for himself! The hospital as an institution is changing in a big way, given that Dr. Lim is now chief of surgery and that will alter the working dynamic. There are also some questions as to how this will impact the relationship that she has with Dr. Melendez.
The Good Doctor season 3 is going to premiere on ABC when we get around to September and of course, we’re going to have some more updates. We’re imagining that there will be some more updates on casting coming in the weeks ahead; the first teaser is likely to come in either late August or early September.
