Next week on The Spanish Princess episode 8, part of the story will be over — though there is something still to come on the other side. Starz recently extended the run of the series by another eight episodes, meaning that we will get a chance to see what lies ahead for Catherine of Aragon. That includes determining the future of Harry, and also unraveling the delicate state of the Tudor family against rebellion and danger.
Obviously, Catherine knew well before the events of this particular set of events that there are those in England who conspire against her — we’ve seen that chronicled throughout this season. There have been those who proclaimed her to not be legitimate enough as someone worthy of the throne, just as we’re aware that many people just have their own preferences and desired endgames. This is a political world, so everyone of course wants to find a way to get those close to the throne who benefit them the most.
Below, CarterMatt offers up the official The Spanish Princess episode 8 synopsis with some other news for what’s coming up next:
The fate of England hangs in the balance when the Tudor family is rocked by tragedy; Catherine risks everything to find out if Harry still loves her.
The promo below certain includes an element of romance, but also a challenge from Harry towards Catherine as he reminds her that he stood against his father for her. He challenges her, and wants to see some element of understanding from her as a result. It feels like the ball is in Catherine’s court to change things within this relationship and that may be the metaphorical gauntlet that is thrown over the course of the episode.
No matter what happens during “Destiny,” it’s going to have to be enough to satisfy everyone for a long period of time. On the other side of this, we’re not going to have another new episode coming up on Starz for quite some time. Because of the timing of the Part 2 renewal, the creative team now has to go back, plot out new episodes, and then determine precisely when they want the story of Catherine of Aragon to conclude. It is a fascinating thing to think about in a number of different ways, given that Catherine did live for some time even following her marriage to Henry VIII — it just comes down to how far this story can go without having to age up the cast significantly.
Update via Emma Frost!
Via the show’s executive producer, the second half of the story is already written! They were able to plan far in advance to deliver the best possible story.
