The Hills: New Beginnings cast ‘audition’ for The OC, Mischa Barton

New Beginnings

We’re just over a week away from the launch of The Hills: New Beginningsa series that is absolutely anticipated. It’s the revival of one of the most popular reality TV shows of all time and in all honesty, we have no real sense of how it’s going to fare. Is there enthusiasm around The Hills like there once was many years ago? We know that there are a number of familiar faces coming back for the new iteration of the franchise, and there’s also one particularly notable newcomer, as well, in Mischa Barton — best known for her work on The OC.

With that in mind, it only makes sense that Barton herself gauge the OC audition skills of some of her new colleagues. In the video below via MTV, you can see a pretty hilarious fake audition for an OC reboot (not actually happening) featuring a number of the different cast members. In here, Audrina Patridge, Whitney Port, Stephanie Pratt, Frankie Delgado, and Brandon Thomas Lee (new to the show) all do their best to try and impress Barton. How does it go? Well, just about as well as you would expect.

We will say this, though — for everyone out there who has long attacked The Hills as being entirely scripted and fake, the lack of sheer acting ability from a lot of the people in this video is the best case against it we’ve seen. These people don’t exactly nail the drama … to put things lightly.

So what is The Hills: New Beginnings actually supposed to bring your way? The series is designed to be a way to give you a little more insight into the lives of some of these people since the original show ended, but also more of what it’s like to be young, wealthy, and successful in 2019. Maybe some of these people are content, whereas others are still in the process of trying to pursue something. There’s a sense of excitement from seeing some people on this show who haven’t been a part of the reality TV scene in years, whereas others feel like they never really left. This is almost like going to a high school reunion, where there are a number of popular faces but then also some complete strangers to go along with it.

Certainly, we expect to have more news on The Hills: New Beginnings as we inch closer and closer to it airing. At least with this preview, we have a good sense that everyone’s got a pretty good sense of humor entering the project.
