Poldark season 5 reportedly angling for mid-July premiere date

Poldark season 4

We know that there’s been a lot of enthusiasm out there for Poldark season 5 — and as it turns out, there may also need to be a lot of patience.

According to a new report coming in right now via the Mirror, the latest season of the Aidan Turner-led drama series may not launch until mid-July — which is certainly a tad later than we originally had hoped or projected. We know that there’s already been one screening for the season 5 premiere just yet, with another coming later this month. It would have been great to be able to see more of the show already, but that’s not a luxury we’re getting this go-around. The time will come … but there’s going to be some surprising competition as well.

As the aforementioned publication notes, ITV is looking to offer some period-drama counterprogramming via Beecham House, which they are starting off this month in an effort to capture a share of the audience for themselves. It’s a bold strategy, but it’s one that we don’t think will 100% pay off. Remember, there are already so many people out there hooked on Poldark already! We don’t think that viewers are going to bail on the Aidan Turner series’ final season for the sake of something new.

Here’s what the Mirror’s source had to say on this subject about the apparent strategy with Beecham House:

“Beecham House may hook the audience in over the first few episodes but Poldark already has a dedicated army of loyal fans – thanks in no small part to Turner’s dashing good looks. They are not going to want to miss the show’s last hurrah.”

The fifth season of Poldark will continue to chronicle the lives of Ross, Demelza, and many others within Cornwall, and we imagine that there could be more struggles than ever. Following the sudden death of Elizabeth at the end of season 4, we’re thinking that George is going to be more aggressive than ever before. That’s going to turn him into a formidable opponent, and with him having so much more in the way of wealth, he’s been able to use and exploit that already. That’s not going to change anytime soon, and there could absolutely be some new adversaries who also surface over time. Expect some romance, some drama, and then also a celebration of legacy. Ross has earned a round of applause for all the work he’s done to make his world a better place.
