Good Witch season 5 episode 3 preview: Sam, Cassie’s honeymoon

Next week, Good Witch season 5 episode 3 will be returning to Hallmark Channel in the show’s normal timeslot. Not only that, but there’s going to be a little bit of romance! The next new episode is entitled “The Honeymoon,” which is of course fitting since we’re talking about (you guessed it) a honeymoon.

It’s actually kind of rare that you see this sort of thing play out on a show. Why? Typically, TV honeymoons are something that networks/producers shy away from, thinking that it’s hard to create conflict during them. It’s true — these are supposed to be happy, joyous occasions and you have to find a way to cultivate some conflict away from the couple. Nobody’s going to want to see Sam and Cassie upset at each other during it! The conflict you run into, instead, is going to have to be external.

Also, there is the trouble of getting a good location for said honeymoon — it shouldn’t just look like everything that you’ve seen already! It does look like the writers have a way to get around that, taking Cassie and Sam to a winery — a place that’s far enough out there that it’s sure to feel different.

Cassie and Sam celebrate their honeymoon at a country winery, where they help their hosts deal with a dilemma. Grace encounters her first heartbreak and Abigail holds a joint fundraiser with Mayor Donovan.

So will the remainder of this season be about life after the wedding and honeymoon? It feels like a reasonably good guess, and we have a hard time thinking that the producers of Good Witch are going to be interested in changing the show. This is more an extension of the story we’ve gotten to date, an evolution that has come about over time.

There’s a whole lot of Good Witch still to come, and for some characters, it will be about working through hardship. That could be one of the stranger parts of episode 3 — you’re going to see Cassie and Sam celebrating, though at the same time Grace dealing with pretty much the opposite. This is a show that does have a basis within fantasy and magic, but there are plenty of elements/reminders of real life wedged within. Those don’t just go away when times are good for someone.
