Elementary season 7 episode 4 preview: ‘Red Light, Green Light’

Elementary

Next week, Elementary season 7 episode 4 is going to be coming onto CBS and bringing with it a story that might feel a little more familiar to the show’s typical mold. After all, Holmes and Watson are going to be out in the field working on a case, and we certainly hope that Sherlock’s not going to be in constant trouble with the law along the way. Tonight’s episode is about him potentially coming up with an arrangement to get on the other side in one piece; we just gotta see whether or not that actually happens.

Before we do too much else now, let’s go ahead and hand out a little bit of scoop! CarterMatt offers up the official Elementary season 7 episode 4 synopsis below with a little bit more information on what’s coming:

“Red Light, Green Light” – An explosion at a traffic stop puts Holmes and Watson on two separate tracks of investigation as they try to determine whether the attack was gang-related or a terrorist attack. Also, Holmes and Watson suspect there is more for them to discover regarding the recent attack on someone within their inner circle, on ELEMENTARY, Thursday, June 13 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Jonny Lee Miller directed the episode.

The latter part of this is obviously going to be the part worth noting since it suggests that what’s going on with Captain Gregson isn’t going to be something that they can just uncover and resolve within the span of a few short episodes. This could span and unravel throughout the rest of this season.

What do we know right now? For starters, it’s that Captain Gregson’s attacker has done whatever they can already to make sure that their identity is a secret — in addition to the nature of some of what they did. Clearly, they don’t want anyone to know about it and they’re committed to hiding the truth for as long as humanly possible. It’s potentially tied to a larger conspiracy, something that Gregson got a little too close to and he’s being taken out accordingly as a result of it. Even if he ends up being okay, we’re not sure just how much insight he’s going to have to hand down! After all, we think that Elementary to a certain extent appreciates the whole mystery angle of this and wants to play around in this world as long as they can.

Remember that come episode 5, we’ll meet James Frain’s Odin Reichenbach. Given that he’s been billed as the Big Bad for the final season, it’s possible that he is connected.
