Jane the Virgin, iZombie series finale dates confirmed by The CW
There is going to be a lot of fun stuff on the CW for the rest of the summer, but there’s also going to be a sad period at the end of July moving into early August. After all, it’s at that point you are going to have to say goodbye to a couple of longtime favorites.
In a statement today, the network confirmed that the Jane the Virgin series finale is going to be airing on Wednesday, July 31 at 9:00 p.m. eastern time. Prior to the series finale, there is also going to be a special that will chronicle the series and offer up some sort of celebration for all who have loved it for so many years. More specifics will probably be announced in due time.
We don’t think we can really even state enough just how important Jane the Virgin has been for the CW’s overall legacy. We are talking about one of their most critically acclaimed series ever and it is one that brought them a Golden Globe nomination for Gina Rodriguez at a time in which no real shows on the network were scoring them. It had a fantastic run, and it’s gotten to tell a lot of very fun, very soapy storylines along the way that suit very much the telenovela tradition. We imagine that when the show concludes, it’s going to be with some of the trademark drama you’ve come to expect. Of course, we really hope that Jane also finds some sort of happiness that sticks. We gotta leave the show with that image in our head!
At one point, the CW was developing a Jane the Virgin spin-off entitled Jane the Novela (meant to be an anthology), but it appears as though this project is not moving forward.
As for another series finale…
the network also confirmed today that iZombie is going to be coming to an end on Thursday, August 1st at 8:00 p.m. eastern time. Well it may not have received as much publicity as Jane the Virgin during its run, the show certainly did offer up a lot of reasons for people to smile.
Not all the news today pertains specifically to series finales. After all, The CW confirmed that the first season of In the Dark is going to air on Thursday, June 27th at 9:00 p.m. meanwhile, The 100 season 6 is going to come to a conclusion On Tuesday, August 6th at 9:00. Both of these shows are coming back for another season, so you don’t have to worry about their renewal odds throughout the rest of the summer.
While these finale dates are scattered all over the place, we are grateful that The CW is actually putting on quality original programming this summer, especially of the scripted variety. There are a lot of broadcast networks that are shying away from that this year.
Which of these finales are you looking forward to the most? Be sure to share in the comments below.
