Interested as to when NCIS season 17 could start filming, this time around with Cote de Pablo as a guest star? Have no fear, as we’ve got some early information within this piece.
As many longtime viewers know, NCIS tends to operate these days as a well-oiled machine. Because they are doing 24 episodes a year, they have to be extremely efficient and they kind of have to know where things are beginning and how they’re operating long in advance. Basically, it maximizes their work days! With that in mind, you shouldn’t be altogether surprised that they start around the same time every year with production. While there may not be an official date for fans released far in advance, more than likely NCIS season 17 will begin once more around the middle of July. Typically, it is within the second or third week of the month, and a few cast members like to commemorate it on social media.
Is there usually some enthusiasm around the filming start date? Absolutely, but we feel like it’s going to be a little bit different this time around thanks to the Ziva of it all. It has to be. The surprise appearance at the end of season 16 drove enthusiasm in a way that we haven’t seen for the show in some time, and it was really kind of remarkable that the producers were able to keep it a secret in the first place. (Granted, they did a lot in order to hide Cote, including doing work on her scene in the middle of the night.)
NCIS and CBS have already confirmed that Cote will be a part of the upcoming premiere episode, so with that in mind, there’s no reason for anywhere near as much secrecy this go-around. We wouldn’t even be surprised if there are few photos on set shared by some of the actors over the course of her time there. (Just a side note: Sometimes shows do film episodes out of order. Usually, premieres are filmed first, but that’s not always a guarantee. Food for thought while we’re sitting around and waiting.)
As for whether or not we could see more of Cote beyond that one appearance, that’s something we talk about a little bit in the video at the bottom of this article. After you check that out, be sure to subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube for some more updates and check out our official NCIS playlist.
For now, the next month and a half or so is going to be the hardest part of the NCIS hiatus. After all, this is the period of time where you are spent having to wait for information to come out, as opposed to being able to talk about it with great enthusiasm as it’s happening. We feel like this Ziva storyline is going to be more than worth the wait, mostly because Cote probably wouldn’t come back unless she felt confident in the material.
