The Good Doctor season 3: When will filming begin in Vancouver?

We know that The Good Doctor season 3 isn’t going to be suddenly right around the corner … as cool as that would be. We’re already many weeks removed from the finale and we come still bearing many questions. Take, for example, what’s going to happen on Shaun and Carly’s date, or if we’re going to see Dr. Glassman get married! While there are certainly some struggles ahead for the individual characters, the season 2 finale at least had some happier moments to it. It’s certainly a step up from Glassman facing death in the way he was at the end of season 1.

While you’re probably waiting until September to see The Good Doctor back in action, you’re probably not going to have to wait too long to see production kick back up! All indications are that filming will begin next month in Vancouver, much like it did for season 2. The Good Doctor actually starts a little bit earlier than most other primetime series; interestingly, both it and A Million Little Things (which also films in Vancouver) are each kicking off production in June. Maybe this is just a way to capture more of the good weather up north, and maybe there is just something schedule-wise that works better for these two shows at this time.

Filming for both series will likely carry over to the new year — when The Good Doctor returns, we do expect a few good social-media teases from some of the cast and producers!

Why not check out a new Twitter video from Freddie Highmore this week from the ABC upfront! Given that Freddie doesn’t have an active social media account himself, we’re happy anytime that we get to see the guy on the platform. Below (via the show’s official account), you can see Freddie celebrate the show’s season 3 renewal — it’s short but sweet, and it’s a reminder that a lot of the excitement is already starting to bubble under the surface.

Beyond just another great performance, we’re hoping that The Good Doctor season 3 gives us a chance to see Freddie work behind the camera as a director — it’d also be great if he gets to write another episode, as well, whether it be this season or at some point beyond that. (Oh, and did you see our Emmy Hopefuls piece all about Freddie? We’re certainly hoping for a nomination from him, though we’re not altogether sure he will get it in this world where there is such a wide landscape and network TV is often ignored.)
