Dynasty season 2 episode 22 (finale) spoilers: The past comes back

Are you curious to learn a thing or two more regarding Dynasty season 2 episode 22? Well, let’s start with a simple reminder of what makes this one so special — it’s the finale! This is the occasion in which everything hits the fan and you’re left screaming, hollering, and possibly throwing non-dangerous things at the TV while you wait for more news about what is coming up next season. (At least we know that there is a next season, right? Given the ratings for Dynasty, it was rather hard to really have that much hope about it.)

Given the sort of show that this is, you can’t be surprised if the entire story comes to a head in a way that is absolutely nuts — think in terms of fireworks, conflict, and a cliffhanger or two to set up the third season. Obviously, the Carringtons have found themselves with a tremendous amount of success throughout their lives and there is a lot, in turn, that they should be quite thankful and grateful for as a result. Yet, their achievements also come with drawbacks, and many of these are some rather enormous skeletons that are buried away in the nearest closet. Some of those could be exposed throughout the third season, but there may be a few that get sprinkled into the finale, as well. Think of it as the perfect appetizer for what could be a meaty main course.

WHAT LIES BENEATH – As various members of the Carrington family make the ultimate decision between preserving their legacies and protecting their personal relationships, allegiances are tested… while dark secrets from the past resurface. Grant Show, Elizabeth Gillies, Ana Brenda Contreras, Rafael de la Fuente, Sam Adegoke, Robert Christopher Riley, Maddison Brown and Alan Dale also star. The episode was written by Christopher Fife & Paula Sabbaga and directed by Michael Allowitz (#222). Original airdate 5/24/2019.

If there is one enormous challenge that Dynasty faces now entering the season 2 finale, it is more than likely this: Just trying to find a way to out-crazy itself. This is a show that has already delivered what we personally feel to be a cavalcade of insane twists, whether it be character departures, false identities, and of course Elizabeth Gillies playing multiple characters. A lot of this is tied to the show’s signature soap DNA and the producers’ understanding of the genre and how to perfectly pay homage to it.

Following the finale, season 3 is going to premiere at some point this fall (it’s going to be airing on Friday nights once more, albeit in a slightly later timeslot) — we’ll hopefully have a little bit more news about what could be coming at some point after we get around to the other side of the finale.
