ABC 2019 fall schedule: A Million Little Things, The Rookie season 2, more

A Million Little Things

Today, ABC officially unveiled the 2019 fall schedule and by and large, it’s fairly expected. There were a few assorted surprises here and there, but in general, this is the same sort of schedule you could’ve predicted. There are a few subtle movements, but most of this looks and feels the same. That’s mostly interesting given that ABC changed programming heads during the season, and sometimes, that can mean that there is a bevy of changes that happen along the way.

Below, you can check out the full schedule — just remember that all of the times listed are Eastern Standard. We also have a video below with some more thoughts on the schedule — if you like this one, be sure to subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube for more.

Sundays

8:00 – Kids Say the Darndest Things

9:00 – Shark Tank

10:00 – The Rookie

When you look at this schedule, the biggest takeaway is seeing The Rookie shifted over to Sunday nights — a huge (and risky) move for a show that was on the bubble in the first place. We’re not sure that it can survive there, mostly because few scripted shows have on ABC over the years. Yet, they’re going to give it a chance. Otherwise, you can say something similar for American Housewife moving to Friday nights — yet, we think that this is ABC trying to pick up a comedy viewership there now that Last Man Standing is off of Fridays. They’re recognizing a hole in the market and trying to fill it.

Meanwhile, A Million Little Things is going to be back this fall and that’s something we appreciate — especially with the Grey’s Anatomy lead-in to try and help it get some more great viewership almost right away.

As for some of the new series, check out some details below.

Slumptown – “Dex Parios as a strong, assertive, and sharp-witted army veteran with a complicated love life, gambling debt, and a brother to take care of in Portland, OR. Her military intelligence skills make her a great P.I., but her unapologetic style puts her in the firing line of hardcore criminals and not quite in alliance with the police. Based on the ‘Stumptown’ graphic novel series.” (Starring Cobie Smulders, Tantoo Cardinal, Cole Sibus, Adrian Martinez, Camryn Manheim, and Michael Ealy.)

Emergence – “A sheriff takes in a young child she finds near the site of a mysterious accident who has no memory of what has happened. The investigation draws her into a conspiracy larger than she ever imagined, and the child’s identity is at the center of it all.” (Starring Allison Tolman, Alexa Skye Swinton, Donald Faison, Robert Bailey Jr., Clancy Brown, Ashley Aufderheide, Zabryna Guevara.)
