Given that the American Idol finale is coming up on ABC next week, that makes the big showdown next week all the more important.
With that in mind, though, we come bearing the following all-important question: Who was actually eliminated right beforehand? This is probably the worst time to be eliminated, given that you know you’re so close to the finale and yet, so far. You don’t have a chance to take part in some of the festivities — you miss out on the fervor, the final songs, and of course that last opportunity for screen time before you know who the winner is.

At this point, we don’t think that it really matters all that much who ends up winning the season — instead, it’s a little bit more about just how you end up getting there. It’s really all about the path you take and the way that your performances appeal to America. Take with Alejandro Aranda — he’s built up such a resume already with his original material that he’s going to be more than fine on the other side of this season.
So who actually made it through?
The first person announced as being in the finale was Laine Hardy, and then Madison VanDenburg was put through after that. At this point, it was between Alejandro, Laci Kaye Booth, and Wade Cota for who would make it through, and who would be left out of the top three. Alejandro made it!
We can’t say that any of these eliminations were a shock — as a matter of fact, we’d consider them to be instead rather expected. This was what we anticipated seeing for quite some time, given that both Wade and Laci had been in jeopardy before. Laine, Madison, and Alejandro were the three who had never been in danger before and clearly they had the strongest overall followings. On some level, we have to think that even these two expected to go home tonight — how could you not given the current order of things?
Of the remaining three, Alejandro is clearly the most unique and original; however, Laine has a huge following and Madison has the biggest singing voice by a mile.
