Outlander video: Sam Heughan introduces Marsali, Murtagh Untold scene

Outlander season 4

In honor of today being Mother’s Day, we have a new greeting via Sam Heughan — but then also a tease at an upcoming Outlander Untold scene to go along with it!

As you can see HERE via the official Twitter for the Outlander Collector, Sam pulls double-duty in celebrating Mother’s Day, while at the same time also teeing up what is a new preview at something that is going to be featured on the upcoming season 4 DVD/Blu-Ray collection. This is a scene that is going to feature at the center of it Marsali (Lauren Lyle) and Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix) as the two work to become a little bit more of a family in the midst of Murtagh trying to hide out from authorities. This scene was filmed with the explicit purpose of being on the season 4 collection and it gives you a chance to see these two characters interact in a way that we haven’t had a chance to really see so far.

Are Murtagh and Marsali connected? Sure, but not so much in a way where the two characters would spend a lot of time together without anyone else around. Instead, Murtagh knows Marsali through the connection that he has with Fergus, who first appeared way back in season 2. Even though so much has changed since then, it remains an important part of Murtagh’s life and he remembers that history quite well. Marsali is therefore a valuable part of his family, even if he does not know her altogether well personally.

There wasn’t a whole lot of room during season 4 itself to share any bonding moments between these characters, but that is where this scene comes into play. In order for some of the scenes to come to really work, we need to see some of these characters build greater bonds. They need to see and understand each other better on an emotional level. That will add that extra dose of motivation in the event that something goes wrong for one of them in season 5 … which it almost certainly will! Remember the cliffhanger at the end of season 4!

Entering season 5, Murtagh is likely to be captured or almost killed, given the way that the British are hunting down the Regulators and, to be specific, his head. They want him gone and they will do everything possible to make that happen. Marsali can help protect him alongside Jamie, Claire, and the rest of the Frasers — while she may not be a warrior, she is sly and smart and capable. She’s certainly picked up a lot of knowledge since first being sheltered from the rest of the world by Laoghaire.

What do you want to see when it comes to this Outlander scene?

Be sure to share in the comments below, and of course we’re wishing all of you a happy and wonderful Mother’s Day. Share it and enjoy it with many of those you love.
