America’s Got Talent: The Champions, World of Dance renewed
Today, the network confirmed that America’s Got Talent: The Champions will be back for a second season, which is exciting but also a little bit curious. What more is there for the show to do, now that we’ve already seen so many champions come back? Do you find a way to bring back people who were on last season? It’s an interesting move to bring it back, so we hope that there are some interesting plans in the works to actually make it a step above what we saw the first time around. A show like this really needs still some tweaks to how it’s run, especially the idea of “superfans” voting.

We’re sure that we’ll hear a little bit more on the future of America’s Got Talent: The Champions over the course of the next few months. There’s no real reason for things to be hurried. (If we had to guess, we would say that the new season will film, once more, following the flagship show later this summer — we’d prefer it to be done live, but we don’t want to create any sort of great declarations of that before we get around to the show actually airing.)
As for the renewal of World of Dance, we cannot say that this is anywhere near as big of a surprise. While it wasn’t the enormous ratings success story in season 3 that it was in its earlier seasons, it did prove to be a solid entry into NBC’s Sunday-night lineup after the end of the NFL season. This is one of those shows that could really go on forever, given that there are always new generations of dancers out there and it can also bring in talent from all over the world. It’s also not as though this show and America’s Got Talent have to pick different acts; there can be some crossover and we imagine that there is going to be more of it moving forward.
With these renewals, most of NBC’s reality future is set given that The Voice will be 100% coming back this fall, and we know that the coaches from this current season will also be back for more.
