Mom season 7 premiere date hopes for Anna Faris, cast
Recently, the network announced that they are bringing back the Anna Faris – Allison Janney comedy for two more seasons, which is certainly quite the impressive feat. It also is a pretty clear reminder of where CBS is at the moment. They’re losing The Big Bang Theory and because of that, they’ve got a little bit of a larger hole on their comedy schedule than they’ve really ever had before. All of a sudden, Mom now becomes more of a tentpole than ever, one of their longest-running comedies that they need to find a way to properly promote as much. It and Young Sheldon are going to have to do a little bit more of the heavy lifting, so you have to hope that they are ready for that.
So when will Mom season 7 premiere? More than likely in either late September/early October, though the real question that we’ve got beyond any other is precisely how we’re going to see the show schedule it. Think about it along these lines — since The Big Bang Theory is over, it’s possible in theory that we could see Young Sheldon move to an earlier timeslot and following that, Mom could either move forward in the night or air at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. It may depend on whether or not CBS wants to have a couple of hours of comedy programming airing on Thursday nights, or shift down to one hour on Thursday and one hour on Monday.
One way or another, we’ll find out some answers when we come to CBS’ upfront presentation next week — in the end, though, the important thing worth noting is that Mom is coming back for two more seasons and that most of your favorite cast members will be back. Beyond that, we do think that the series could continue to get stronger from here — what makes Mom so special is the investment that you have in these people, and the willingness from the producers to continue to push these characters in some directions that are dark and very personal. This may be a comedy, but there is still a lot of room for additional drama here.
A formal premiere date is going to be coming out for Mom season 7 a little bit later this summer; keep your eyes peeled for that a little bit further on down the road. We definitely don’t see the show moving from Thursday night.
