STAR season 4 renewal hopes: Will Queen Latifah, cast return?
We’re watching the STAR finale at the time of this writing, and in the process of that, we come bearing one key question: How in the world is there not a season 4 renewal just yet?
Well, let’s kick things off by saying this — there is no formal news just yet on the future of the show, and we remain every bit as surprised about that as anyone. After all, this show has remained reasonably steady in the ratings and while it’s far from a runaway hit, it’s also one of the stronger shows that Fox has in its lineup. It’s also a natural companion to Empire in a way that very few other shows out there are.
So with all of this in mind, be prepared for there to be a STAR season 4 renewal at some point over the next week — that’s when, for the record, Fox will come to their senses. The upfront presentation is going to be happening and they’re going to want their whole lineup solidified by then.
When the renewal news comes out, there’s still one question that we have to wonder — when is STAR season 4 going to premiere? At the moment, conventional wisdom suggests that you’ll see the show back this fall, and in the series’ traditional timeslot, no less.
Yet, there is a case to be made here for a shake-up. After three seasons on the air and two accompanying Empire, can you make the argument that STAR could be moving somewhere else on the schedule? Maybe you decide to push the series to either Monday or Tuesday and from there, use it as a launching pad for something else. Or, you could use the Empire lead-in for something else.
One way or another, rest assured that there’s going to be more STAR, and we certainly do think that we’re going to need it after everything that we saw over the course of the finale tonight. Think in terms of unraveling the aftermath of the wedding, and also who died on the other side of it. We’re sure that Miss Ruby is gone, but on the other side of that, who really knows? This has gotta be one of the crazier finales of the season, and we like to think that this represents the producers really just throwing down the gauntlet and demanding SO much more when it comes to new episodes.
