Outlander notes: Sam Heughan video; Laura Donnelly’s gala appearance

Outlander season 4

Welcome to yet another edition of Outlander notes! We’ve got a couple new stories for you today, and they begin with a new Sam Heughan interview via his recent My Peak Challenge Gala over the weekend.

In the video below, you can watch Sam speak with the program The Nine about an array of different topics, including the success of Outlander to date, Game of Thrones (including how the pilot for it was actually shot in Scotland), and, since it seems to be a conversation everywhere these days where you’ve got a Sam interview, James Bond. He discusses having auditioned many years ago back when they were doing Bond 21 (a.k.a. Casino Royale), but he’s taking more of a wait-and-see approach on the future. It’s a busy gig! Also, it’s not something to really worry about for a good stretch of time still given that there’s another movie coming up featuring Daniel Craig in the role.

It’s true that much of this video content includes coverage that you’ve seen and heart before, but there is some conversation about My Peak Challenge at the end of the video — it’s one of the many things that is keeping Sam incredibly busy this time of year! He’s got this initiative, he recently met Prince Charles, and he is also still in the process of filming Outlander season 5. (Over the weekend, he shared that they were almost done with the first block of filming — in other words, they are almost a sixth of the way done, presumably, with the new season!)

Laura Donnelly hits the Met Gala

Clearly, 2019 is turning out to be a great one for the actress behind Jenny Fraser Murray. First, she got a starring role in the upcoming HBO project The Nevers. Then, she ended up getting a Tony nomination for The Ferryman. Now, she’s had an opportunity to make a big splash at the Met Gala! You can see one of the photos from her lavish ensemble via Twitter below — this is the height of high fashion, and only the people making waves in this industry have a tendency to attend.

This isn’t the first time that Outlander has been associated with the Met Gala — Caitriona Balfe recently made a splash a few years back at the event. It’s obviously a hard thing to make a repeat appearance at for now, given the fact that Outlander is still shooting and was also filming season 4 around this same time last year. We’re sure that the series-regular cast will be back in New York City soon enough, but most likely for the season 5 premiere event. Unless someone gets another job there early on in the hiatus, it’s rather difficult to see them having the time to turn up in the Big Apple until then.

Of course, and as always, we welcome your thoughts in the comments.
