‘Downton Abbey’ season 3 spoilers: First scoop from episode 6

Even though episode 5 of “Downton Abbey” is still several days away from airing, isn’t it nice to take a look forward for at least a few minutes? With that in mind, we present to you the latest details from an installment that could have especially major implications for Branson along with Bates.

ITV just released the following information in a press release from episode 6, which is set to actually air beginning on Sunday, October 21:

“Tempers fray as Isobel’s kind gesture backfires … Branson’s decisions are put under scrutiny, but Mary fights his corner … Robert and Cora’s relationship suffers, can Violet make them see things differently? … As Bates’s chance of freedom slips away he goes to extreme lengths.”

Really, the only major spoiler from within this description is that Bates is still locked up for the alleged killing of his estranged wife, but even this is not that much of a surprise given that the man would surely not find himself back on the street within the span of a single episode. As for Tom Branson, we’ve already seen the man be put under all sorts of scrutiny over some of the decisions that he has made. (For a prime example of this, just look at what he has done when it comes to Sybil and leaving Ireland from this past episode.) As for Robert, Cora, and Isobel, the descriptions are a little too vague to know for sure what is happening.

With “Downton Abbey” having such a short episode count in comparison other series here in America, this episode is really going to mark the beginning of the home stretch for the show. Hopefully, we will see more of Martha within the next few weeks, especially since she has more or less disappeared of late.
