The Enemy Within episode 11 preview: A look at ‘The Embassy’

The Enemy Within

The Enemy Within episode 11 next week is entitled “The Embassy,” and we don’t think we have to tell you that this is important. We’re now in the thick of what we’d consider being the home-stretch territory for this show. There are only a few more episodes left before the end of this season … and then also potentially the end of the series. We have to prepare for things one way or another … though we want to hope that NBC is going to see the value in bringing the show back for a season 2. We’ve obviously got a great, intense central premise here, and relationships that still need to grow and develop.

Of course, we also still have a big bad on the loose at the moment in Tal and Keaton’s team is desperate to do whatever they can in order to track him down. That also means working to ensure that some of his operatives remain under heavy lock and key … whatever that makes.

Unfortunately, moving into episode 11, the FBI’s going to have some egg on their face. They already had an opportunity to secure one of the most valuable assets that they have; unfortunately, they screwed it up and because of that, they gotta track them down in a completely different country.

Below, CarterMatt offered up the official The Enemy Within episode 11 synopsis with some more news when it comes to what lies ahead:

05/06/2019 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Monday) : When a highly sophisticated Tal operative (guest star Michael James Shaw) evades FBI custody and flees to the Swiss embassy, Keaton and the Cointel team must go undercover. What begins as a smooth counterintelligence operation quickly devolves into a tense hostage situation. TV-14 V

A part of the fun here is getting a chance to see Morris Chestnut take on a different sort of character — in general, that has to be one of the biggest nuggets of fun within a season where you’re otherwise playing the same person, time and time again. This allows you to step into some new shoes, while also still having an opportunity to be able to step back into your old shoes. It’s job security (for at least two more episodes, anyway) coupled with getting to do something that is certainly a little bit different and ultimately all sorts of fun.

What’s on the other side of this?

Think in terms of a possible showdown with Tal, and we certainly hope that we see more in the way of face-to-face encounters. That’s going to be what makes the show all the more intense leading into the closing minutes of the finale.
