Designated Survivor season 3: See Kal Penn’s Netflix video

Designated Survivor

It’s been quite the wait, but we at least can now see a Designated Survivor season 3 on the horizon.

To go along with that, we’re also quite pleased to see that Netflix is coming up with a few cheeky ways to better promote it. That includes the video below featuring Kal Penn, where he gives a fake White House press briefing before eventually announcing that the President has decided to join … Netflix. It’s a play on a faux political announcement, and this mostly serves as a great reminder that if you love this show, you’re going to be seeing it very soon — think along the lines of June 7.

To go along with this news, though, this is where we also feel the need to add in one of our own obligatory reminders that if you love this show and want to actually see it around for a substantial period of time, the best thing that you can do is that you watch it, and watch it quickly given that Netflix is developing a real nasty habit these days of ending shows before they really have all that much of an opportunity to conclude their story. We’re writing this especially salty at the moment given the recent end of Santa Clarita Diet, and how that came about so much quicker than anyone would have expected.

So what about the story?

Be prepared for this to be the edgiest, most-topical season of Designated Survivor yet as we have a chance to see this show climb into some challenging political waters. Fake news is going to be a central component of the story, as is trying to find a way to run a Presidential campaign in 2019. We don’t think that it’s any coincidence that the show is taking this on at a time in which a real-life Presidential campaign is happening, one where there is all sorts of intrigue already and that will probably continue for some time still.

Of course, this show is about more than just politics, as there is also action, espionage, secrets, and so much more throughout. We know that it stinks in one way seeing the episode order reduced for this show down to just ten, but consider this show getting a cool chance here to try to make the most of what is a tricky situation.
