‘Supernatural’ season 8 spoilers: Misha Collins on ‘secret’ Castiel story

Wednesday night is set to mark the first appearance of Misha Collins on “Supernatural” this season, and Castiel is going to have his hands full in purgatory almost from the get-go. Not only is it a place where he really does not want to be, but it is also a place that he is not going to be entirely useful to Dean Winchester or anyone else.

What are we talking about her specifically? With that, we turn to Collins himself, who had the following to say on the subject recently to Entertainment Weekly:

“[Cas] left Dean because he wanted to try to keep him safe … [Cas] being around is actually a liability in Purgatory, and he’s working to try to right the wrongs of his past doings.”

Meanwhile, Collins also had the following to say when it comes to something that none of us are going to see going, but also something that will not fully unfold for his character until the seventh or eighth episode of the season:

“There’s something going on with Cas that neither Cas nor the brothers know. Cas is sort of being manipulated behind the scenes and he’s not aware of that and neither are the boys … We’ll see how that affects their relationship in the long run.”

Finally, we know two more things about Castiel’s story that do give us a little bit of reason for pause this season: he is not going to be getting along very well with Dean’s new “friend” Benny (even to the point where some jealousy is involved), and we know that he will eventually have to face a fate that Dean described during the premiere in a rather grisly fashion.

What do you want to see unfold with Cas this season?
