SWAT season 2 episode 21 preview: Is Hondo getting fired?
What happens when a civilian is killed? Well, after the fact you are going to see the higher-ups do an internal investigation in order to figure out what really happened. It’s a bit of standard-operating procedure in situations like this, but if Hondo is deemed responsible for what happened out in the field, he’s the person who could have his head on a silver platter.
Below, CarterMatt offers up the official SWAT season 2 episode 21 synopsis with some more insight all about what’s coming next:
“Day of Dread” – The SWAT team finds itself under internal investigation after a civilian is killed as they attempted to bring in the city’s most wanted criminal. As the mission details are revealed, the force’s internal affairs team calls Hondo’s leadership into question, on S.W.A.T., Thursday, May 2 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Debbie Allen guest stars as Charice Harrelson, Hondo’s mother.
This episode, clearly, is going to be one that is a culmination of many of Hondo’s recent troubles. We’ve seen this guy try his best to balance all of the changing elements of his life, including becoming more of a father and also working to maintain things at work. This is something that he cannot prepare for and, really, it’s a perfect example of how life comes at you fast with this job. One call, one mission, and just about every single thing with your life can completely change.
Of course, we imagine within this episode that Hondo is going to be forced to endure a lengthy, rigorous interrogation process in order to figure out his culpability in all that’s transpired. Whatever happens here will almost certainly set the stage for what’s coming in the finale. We don’t exactly think that Hondo is going to lose his job (can SWAT as a show really exist in the same level if he’s not a part of it?), there could be some other ramifications that come from this that play a role in the final episode … or really set the stage for what’s coming in a potential season 3. One of the things that the writers for this show have really done a good job at is making sure that even though there are a lot of good case-of-the-week plots, they’re not coming at the expense of some fantastic personal stuff that keeps you caring about these people.
