Chicago PD season 6 episode 20 clearly is going to have a lot to address in terms of its overall story … and you’re also going to be waiting a while in order to see it. Like some of its One Chicago brethren before it, this installment (entitled “Sacrifice”) is airing on Wednesday, May 8 — all because the Billboard Music Awards are airing next week.
So what’s coming up in terms of the story? Think in terms of a difficult case involving (shocker) the drug trade, and also one that will put one important relationship in the crosshairs. This could be the episode where Upton and Ruzek finally determine what they are supposed to be — are they set up to actually have something that lasts? We’re still not at a point where we can say that for sure, mostly because there’s been a mixture of hesitancy and indecision with these two characters for a good while now.
What we’re a little less indecisive about at the moment is where things are with the Mayor election. With Ray Price now in prison, it feels almost as though Kelton is running against himself. He’s got a clear path to the finish line unless of course someone else creeps up and surprises him. That’s the big storyline to watch — there are only three episodes left and with that, there’s really not much time at all for things to flip around. But, it’s just enough. Just enough to figure out a way to send the city of Chicago into chaos.
Chicago politics. They can be some of the ugliest in all of the world. That’s one of the reasons why Chicago PD has focused so much of this season on them, and it’s the primary reason we’re so psyched to see how this story is going to wrap up … though the writers can’t drift too far from their typical focus. If there are stories about politics, they will be mixed heavily with other stories all about policework.
