Next week on 9-1-1 season 2 episode 16, you’re going to have a chance to dive into a different sort of origin story — this time for Bobby. “Bobby Begins Again” is a chance to flash back to some early pain and suffering for this character, but also to get a chance to see just how he first came to Los Angeles in the first place. This will be an emotional episode but also hopefully a hopeful one — while we know that there are dangerous rescues and near-death situations sprinkled throughout this show, it’s also about watching heroes be just that and overcoming a number of different obstacles along the way.
Also, for everyone out there who loves the Bobby/Athena ‘ship, you’re going to have a chance to see that continued to be explored in a most exciting manner, as well!
For some other information on what lies ahead, our suggestion is rather simple — be sure to behold the official 9-1-1 season 2 episode 16 synopsis below:
After his devastating family tragedy in Minnesota, Bobby Nash moves to Los Angeles to start over, where he becomes Captain of the 118, and meets Athena Grant for the first time in the all-new “Bobby Begins Again” episode of 9-1-1 airing Monday, April 29 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (NIN-216) (TV-14 D, L, V)
So really, this episode can be thought of as Bobby and Athena’s origin story in addition to it just being about Bobby itself. You’ll learn a little bit more about how they started to work together and through that, how they developed something that eventually turned into something a whole lot more.
Why tell this story now? We like to think that within every origin story, there is a reason for it — either a method to making us care a little bit more about a character or a possible springboard to some other sort of great stuff that we’re going to have a chance to see a little bit more of down the line. In this case, maybe we’re looking for a little bit more.
The most important thing to remember here is that following the conclusion of “Bobby Begins Again,” there are only two more episodes for the rest of the season. We know that there’s a season 3, but you can’t just shove off all of your good stories until you get to that point! We’re expecting a whole lot of excitement in the weeks ahead, and we just have to hope that the writers do what they can to deliver an excellent season 2 finale. That way, they can set the stage for some other season 3 backstory episodes in the weeks that are coming up this fall. (We gotta think that the writers already are pondering over some that they would like to take on…)
