‘Downton Abbey’ season 3 spoilers: First video from episode 5

Even though one door may have closed for Edith on “Downton Abbey” when it comes to Sir Anthony’s decision to leave her at the altar, another one has now opened when it comes to her career. After at first being given little to no chance at having one of her own compositions appear in the newspaper, she is now being offered a regular column!

While you would think this to be something that the entire family would want to sit around and celebrate, we quickly learn in the first promo that has been released by The CW that this is not entirely the case. As a matter of fact, some people do not appear to be even remotely supportive of what she is accomplishing.

As for some of the other stories teased here, Anna does her best to help and try to assuage Bates of some of the guilt that came with estranged wife opting to end her own life. (Let’s just hope that at some point, this does coincide with his eventual release.) Meanwhile, James (otherwise known as “Jimmy”) is going to be getting a little bit closer to his own fellow downstairs worker in Thomas. We’re still hoping that if something blossoms here, it will help Thomas to realize that he does not have to be so awful and/or meddlesome all of the time in order to be happy. These three stories are going to be the tip of the iceberg for all that unfolds moving forward … and our expectations are through the roof after a brilliant, heartbreaking episode 4 that was the strongest ever created by the series.
