Designated Survivor season 3 premiere date: When will Netflix reveal it?
Take, for example, some of the rumors that are out there — we’ve heard dates at the end of May and also in early June — are probably furthering along the need for a formal announcement. It’d also certainly behoove Netflix to get the news out there just to get viewers excited. It helps to build up buzz, and we also think that it’s essential for everyone out there playing catch-up — it’s nice to know a date in which you want to catch up by since otherwise, you’re running the risk of people not be ready to check out the latest season immediately. You want that, especially since you want to see a season 4 renewal happen.

So when is the right time for the big announcement? We do think that there is a good model that Netflix can look at here, and it is another of their notable acquisitions in Lucifer. Earlier this month and less than a month before its May 8 premiere date, Netflix announced when it could be coming back. With that thinking in mind, we are predicting an early May announcement for the Designated Survivor date and that may very well be best. After all, that’s the best way in which to ensure that you get a lot of hype out there, and also set the stage for when there will be a trailer — more than likely, a little bit later in the month.
A month of publicity is really what a show like this needs — a solid month to get people talking about what could be coming. Kiefer Sutherland is currently on a bit of a promotional tour, but that is for his music more so than anything that has to do with playing Tom Kirkman. On the other side of that, he may be able to start chatting about this character once more. Our anticipation is that season 3 will be edgier and more topical than ever, as President Kirkman does whatever he can in order to ensure that he can keep the peace and establish a more perfect union.
Also, he’s going to have to prepare himself this season for something that he’s never quite had to prepare for — a political campaign. He didn’t exactly run for the position that he has. Now that he’s got it, though, he may need to start preparing for how to keep it.
