Outlander notes: Sam Heughan, Sophie Skelton, David Berry, & Ben Lui
As Instagram so carefully showed us across a number of different accounts this afternoon, a good many cast members (Caitriona Balfe cheered them on from afar) took on the challenge of scaling Ben Lui, an impressive peak of a few thousand feet northwest of where the show’s production base is typically located. You can see a number of the photos from the excursion below. We imagine this to be a fun group activity following a busy few days of filming — but also a pretty physically taxing one. Think of it as a great way to emerge from set, and go out to see some of the beauty that Scotland has to offer!
If you want to try and break this down in a granular sense, you can view it as that extra bit of evidence that this is a cast that actually enjoys spending time together — it’s not just about them all hanging out around the set in Scotland. They can actually do some other stuff together! This does also show us that Berry is back in Scotland, which presumably could mean some great news for many a Lord John Grey fan that is out there. Production’s two weeks in right now (read more about some of what we know over at the link here), and we’re sure that there is quite a bit of good stuff still to come.
No doubt, the climb is extremely on-brand for Heughan in general given his My Peak Challenge Initiative is all about improving physical and also giving back to various charitable causes. It’s also just something fun — it’s not something that really has to be pondered over too much more than that.
