The Last Man Standing season 7 finale is going to be coming to Fox on Friday, May 10, and if you’re hungry for some first news all about it, you’re in the right spot!
Let’s start things off here with some news from the guest-starring front, as you will see Kaitlyn Dever find her way back to the show in the role of Eve. It’s not really a huge surprise that she’d be back for the finale, given that the writers probably wanted to make sure that she was around for some particularly important episodes this season. Our hope now moving into season 8 is that we continue to see her around with the same amount of frequency — if she wants to come back as a regular (or is able to) that would be great, but we’re happy to at least have Eve on a recurring basis.
As for what the actual story for said finale will be, the Last Man Standing season 7 finale synopsis below gives you a taste of that:
When Mandy and Kyle are hesitant to move out of the Baxter household and into their own place, Mike gives them some tough love. Meanwhile Ed and Chuck try to avoid contributing to Boyd’s theater fundraiser in the all-new “A Moving Finale” season finale episode of LAST MAN STANDING airing Friday, May 10 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (LMS-722) (TV-PG D, L)
Much of this makes sense as a proper way to end season 7, especially when you are talking about Mandy and Kyle. These are two characters who have been contemplating their future for a while and with finales, one of the things you really have to hope for is a chance to really showcase some big changes. You want it to feel like the lives for some of your characters won’t quite be the same on the other side of it, and whatever happens in this episode could be a nice way to showcase some of that.
Since we are talking about a family sitcom here, though, we don’t think that Last Man Standing really needs to do anything too crazy in its final episode of the season. It can just go out, deliver a funny episode, and not really worry about a big cliffhanger or doing something to try to command eyeballs leading into a season 8. While the cast and crew weren’t aware of a season 8 renewal at the time of filming this episode, they had to be feeling pretty optimistic — the same goes for the writers behind the scenes. They likely planned this out with the full intention that they would be coming back for more.
