Jane the Virgin season 5 episode 5 preview: Jane’s birthday party

Jane the Virgin season 4

Next week on Jane the Virgin season 5 episode 5, be prepared for a birthday party … or at least what could be a birthday party. There are hints that one is coming, but we know at this point not to expect anything as a certainty within this world. We’re not delusional at this point. It seems like it could be fun, right?

What makes this especially entertaining to us is that Jane’s party is put on by Rogelio, and we like to think that there is no party quite like a Rogelio party. There’s also going to be an opportunity in here for Jane to make some big decisions regarding her own future, as well. This is a chance for inspiration to strike, and for her to get a spark of creativity like she hasn’t quite had in some time.

For some more news on Jane the Virgin season 5 episode 5 and what’s coming, remember to check out the attached synopsis now:

A SPECIAL UNICORN – With everything that has been going on, Jane (Gina Rodriguez) reluctantly agrees to let Rogelio (Jaime Camil) throw her a big 30th birthday party. Jane’s mentor gives her some important advice that may help her start writing again. Meanwhile, Petra (Yael Grobglas) thinks she and JR (guest star Rosario Dawson) are finally in a good place, until she realizes that JR might see things differently. Justin Baldoni, Andrea Navedo and Ivonne Coll also star. Gina Lamar directed the episode written by Joni Lefkowitz & Madeline Hendricks (#505). Original airdate 4/24/2019.

This episode is looking to provide a lot of laughs, but we don’t want to lose sight of the fact along the way here that we’re in the final season. This is going to be emotional at times and because of that, there will be some tough decisions that are made. Take, for example, what’s going on with Petra and JR. Just because they’ve been okay doesn’t mean that she will continue to be okay in the weeks ahead.

What we know we’re building towards at the moment is some sort of epic conclusion with laughter, hope, and maybe some more surprises. We know that there is a possible spin-off ahead in Jane the Novela, where each season is themed around one of Jane’s stories. While we don’t think that there are going to be any sort of significant story connections between what happens the rest of the season and this, it’s at least possible that some of the writing Jane does for the rest of the season could influence what stories we see on that down the road. Just consider that some food for thought while you’re thinking about some of the character stories you’re seeing.
