Arrow season 7 episode 19 preview: David Ramsey’s ‘Spartan’ showcase

David Ramsey

Next week on Arrow season 7 episode 19, we’re getting a chance to see an episode we’ve been excited to see for quite some time. “Spartan” is your David Ramsey showcase as John Diggle and beyond that, it’s a chance for certain elements of his past to become his present. This is where the writers can really stack on some of their dramatic material, given that Ramsey is one of the show’s best actors and we know that he can handle great burdens and difficult demons from the past.

Also, David is getting a chance to work with Ernie Hudson within this episode and in our eyes, there’s almost nothing better than that.

For some more news on what’s ahead, remember to check out the official Arrow season 7 episode 19 synopsis:

ERNIE HUDSON (“GHOSTBUSTERS”) GUEST STARS – After the Ninth Circle delivers a major setback for Team Arrow, Diggle (David Ramsey) reluctantly reaches out to a Four-Star General of the Defense Intelligence Agency (guest star Ernie Hudson) for help, despite unresolved tension from their past. Meanwhile, Oliver (Stephen Amell) discovers a piece of information that he believes will turn Emiko (Sea Shimooka) against the Ninth Circle. Alena (guest star Kacey Rohl) returns with an interesting proposal for Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards). Avi Youabian directed the episode written by Benjamin Raab & Deric A. Hughes (#719). Original airdate 4/22/2019.

Obviously, we could continue to talk about why we’re so excited for Diggle and for David to have this showcase, but some things are better left a mystery until we get to the zenith of the episode.

With Felicity, meanwhile, it’s fair to ask some major questions about her future — knowing what we know about Emily Bett Rickards leaving at the end of the season. Could Alena’s return be tied in some sort of way to where she goes? We know from the flash-forwards that Felicity still has a legacy to write and to us, that suggests that there’s still a whole lot of story to tell for this character. We just have to wait and see precisely what some of that story is going to be from here, but we can’t imagine that the writers are going to have it just come out of nowhere. There are plenty of Arrow viewers who don’t keep up with social media or news articles about cast members’ futures, so they have to keep that in mind as they write this story, as well.

There are three episodes still to come on the other side of this episode, so no matter what’s decided for Diggle and Felicity, there will be plenty of time in order to tie some of these stories together. Be prepared for more surprises on the other side.
