Call the Midwife season 8 episode 4 preview (PBS): Trixie’s personal story

Call the Midwife season 8

Want a few details on what’s coming up on Call the Midwife season 8 episode 4? There will be another new episode arriving on PBS next week, and this one will be as well-crafted and also bittersweet as any other you’ve seen for quite some time.

While you wait to check things out, why not go ahead and share some teases for what to expect? There are no major spoilers ahead — only some more ways to get you excited for some alternating smiles and ugly-cries. (In other words, precisely what you would expect from this show.)

Trixie – This is going to be a rough story for her, as a serious medical struggle is coming courtesy of someone close to her. It’s not a major character who is in jeopardy, but they are tied to a very important part of Trixie’s life. (As you would expect, Helen George is remarkable within this episode.)

Dr. Turner – For those of you who love to see this character out in the field trying to work some of his medical magic, this episode gives him an opportunity to do just that. Yet, it’s not going to be an altogether-happy affair; instead, you’ll be seeing this character act a little bit more out of desperation in order to be a hero for a number of people who desperately need him.

An important case – This is a storyline that will encompass more than one character on the show, but a mother and daughter are going to be pregnant at the same time. This is an experience that could bring them closer together, but as you would imagine, this could also end up being the sort of experience that drives the two apart depending on how they deal with some of the situations put before them.

Call the Midwife continues to be a series that loves to touch on multiple threads within a single hour of television. This is a reflection of life, where you do often see so many things coming your all at one time. You have to figure out how to handle them and find a way to move forward … typically with the help of all of your friends. While we don’t often see a lot of the family for some of these various midwives and nuns, they have each other. They have formed a loving, supportive family unit like no other. They see each other through thick and thin, and that is important when you have a difficult birth to attend to or something traumatic hanging over your head.

Episode 4 marks the halfway point of season 8. While that’s sad in so many ways, remember on the other side of it that there are still four other meaningful stories coming up.
