Siren season 2 episode 9 return date moved up at Freeform
This past week, the network confirmed that the return date for the second half of the season has been moved up to Thursday, June 13, a good four weeks earlier than originally planned. Why make the move? The only real explanation is that the network just wanted to deliver it to some of their viewers a little bit earlier, and we think that this is a smart move for a couple of different reasons. For starters, airing Siren a little bit earlier means that you’ll hopefully lose fewer viewers with a long spring/summer hiatus. That’s always a concern anytime that you take a long break in the middle of a season, especially for a show that caters itself to such a young audience. Meanwhile, this change also means that Siren season 2 will likely conclude before people start to head back to school, which happens as early as August depending on where you are in the world.
We know that entering Siren season 2 episode 9, there are MANY different story threads that are going to need to be resolved, including the aftermath of the plot and the explosion in the midseason finale. Because this show is dealing with such an unknown in mermaids who carry with them their own mythology and plenty of mystery, there are a number of questions worth asking about which way their story is constantly going to go. Learning more about them is going to be essential and important to the second half of the season, but so is getting a chance to see new relationships form and for there to be some difficult, emotional scenes. Siren is a show that does love to deliver a lot of different content your way — it’s never about just mermaids. There’s always a larger theme or discussion point that the producers of this show are looking to get across. Hopefully, we are going to see a little bit of this play out over the remainder of this season.
Also, is this where we profess our hopes for a season 3 renewal sooner rather than later? Well, let’s go ahead and do just that now — we’re really hoping that there is going to be a chance for renewal news by the time the second half of the season premieres. That will give us confidence in the show’s future and beyond that, the cast will need to get back to work filming a little bit later in the summer to meet their current production schedule.
