Agents of SHIELD season 6 promo: What is known is now unknown
In the new promo below, you can see how the network is slowly introducing you to the new character played by Clark Gregg — a mysterious dude who isn’t exactly sharing a whole lot of information about himself. What seems to be clear is that he has no idea who SHIELD or Phil Coulson is… and we don’t exactly think that this is good. It means that he could be spending his time in the early going plotting against them or simply just operating on his own agenda without care.
Given that Gregg is still a major part of this show, we don’t foresee this to be a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it role … though we do still wonder whether or not Coulson is really good. We saw the time leading up to his death at the end of season 5 and we fully recognize that we probably should be taking that as it seems. We’re just not sure with this show that dead really means that especially when you consider that we’ve already seen this character revived on the show before.
Regardless of if Coulson comes back or not, the top order of business entering this new season is getting a chance to see how SHIELD adjusts. Mack is now in charge, Daisy’s powers are more fully-honed than ever, and the unit, even though they miss Coulson, may be as well-equipped and trained for a life without him as possible. Unfortunately, they’ve all certainly realized at this point that there are so many things within this world that are impossible to predict and see coming, whether it be this new character of Gregg’s or someone else who they could end up seeing throughout the upcoming episodes.
We know that season 6 of Agents of SHIELD is not the final one for the show. There’s already a renewal out there! Yet, we do still think that the stakes are high and that this could very well end up being one of the most important batches of episodes we’ve seen. It’s both an ushering in of a new era at the organization and then also a chance to dive into one of the strangest mysteries that this team has ever encountered. It may take them some time to work their way through this.
