NBC’s ‘The Voice’ rankings: Is Cassadee Pope tops on Team Blake Shelton?

On Friday, we started our look at some of the biggest contenders on “The Voice” leading up to the battle rounds with the team ran by one Adam Levine. Now, we are shifting gears a bit to a group of people mentored by Blake Shelton that is rather interesting. There’s a pretty big percentage of country singers on here, but with one exception most of what we are interested in here are some unexpected gems that cross over into some other musical genres.

Like we said with the Adam article, it’s really impossible to rank all 16 of these team members based on the fact that we have barely seen some of them save for a few seconds. With that in mind, we’re going to focus instead on the four top contenders based on the auditions that we have seen extensively footage of.

4. Terry McDermott – Terry was the very first audition that we saw this season, and he is still one of the best. He’s energetic, distinct, and has a sort of 1980s rock voice that would have sold a million records three decades ago. The problem? It’s not the 1980s anymore, and the one area we see Terry having trouble in is trying to take on some more modern hits.

3. Suzanna Choffel – We don’t know for sure if her singing voice sounds like Stevie Nicks the vast majority of the time that she is performing, but if the rest of her performances are like her stirring version of “Landslide,” we have a feeling that she is going to be around in this competition for some time.

2. Gracia Harrison – Being a country singer is not enough on its own on Blake’s team; you need to be the ultimate cowgirl, the yodeler, and the girl that embodies the history of this purely American genre of music. Gracia is clearly one of the most talented of the bunch, and she is the country singer who has the best shot of standing out from the group.

1. Cassadee Pope – She may be one of the more famous contestants on this season, but there is no faulting someone for having success before this show and coming on here with so much talent. Cassadee is someone who already knows clearly who she is, and with the rest sort of team around her, easily she is the person from Blake’s team here who has the best shot at really breaking through and taking her career to the next level.
