‘Downton Abbey’ season 3 spoilers: Words from a newcomer
Can you believe that “Downton Abbey” is already close to being at its halfway point already this season? It’s a crazy thought, but we know that there is plenty more story on the way, especially when it comes to one of the new members of the cast this season in Matt Milne. His character of Alfred has already gotten himself into some rather interesting romantic entanglements, and this is only going to continue moving into episode 4 (airing this Sunday) and beyond.
So what does the “War Horse” actor have to say about his time on the show? Speaking as a part of a new interview with Digital Spy, Milne had the following to say about getting to work with some of the most highly-regarded actors really in all of show business including the likes of Elizabeth McGovern and Maggie Smith:
“I think it says a lot about the rest of the cast, they’ve built up a real family over the last two years, but they’ve really accepted me and the other new cast members into their working group. It says a lot about them about how accepting they have been and I’m really grateful for that.
“There’s no jumped-up people whatsoever. It’s great to learn from that because you see that’s how the big boys like Hugh Bonneville and Dame Maggie Smith do it and I’ve learned from that.”
So where will Alfred end up by the end of this season? That much is still a mystery, and we have a suspicion producers will be rather tight-lipped about it as they attempt to keep more of their focus placed on such things as Bates’ state behind bars and how Edith recovers from the wedding shock of last week.
