Psych: The Movie 2: Timothy Omundson set to begin filming

Psych: The Movie

Today, the news that Cartermatt is here to report on about Psych: The Movie 2 is glorious, and it represents another chapter in what we feel is one of the best inspirational stories out there within the world of TV.

Late last night on Twitter, Timothy Omundson (who we really can’t say enough good things about) confirmed that he is getting set to kick off filming on the upcoming USA movie event, and it comes two years after the actor suffered a stroke that forced him to miss out on the majority of the first movie. He’s faced a long, at times tiresome recovery process, and we have to imagine that there were so many roadblocks and issues that could have caused some to stop. But he kept going, and now the actor gets a chance for a proper comeback in a movie that everyone’s going to be excited to see him as a major part of it. Lassiter’s surly humor and rapport with the other characters make him essential within the larger Psych world, and early suggestions hint that much of the second movie is being designed to tell a story all about this character. After being brutally attacked, Lassiter will find himself in a recovery center in the movie — when some strange things happen there, Shawn and Gus will return to their old Santa Barbara stomping grounds and try to figure things out.

This weekend, toast to the success of Omundson, a man who has brought all sorts of joy and hope to many, as he begins this part of the filming journey. Beyond just that, cherish the Psych: The Movie 2 production period for however long it is going, given that it won’t be here all that long. It started at the end of the month and before long, it’ll be wrapped and we shall be left to wonder if we’re going to get a third movie down the line.

More than likely, this movie shall premiere a little bit later this year. Maybe later this summer, we’ll get some teasers, more photos, or at least a few more Shawn & Gus nicknames. We gotta get some of the good stuff, right? Feels like a missed opportunity otherwise.

Birthday joy

If you missed it and want to see some on-set hijinks, just take a look below (via Dule Hill) at how some of the crew chose to toast James Roday on his birthday. Note that there’s no apparent cake — instead, it’s just a loud and raucous rendition of “Happy Birthday!” before Roday cracks a joke, and everyone seems to get back to work.

Have you voted for Shawn & Gus in CarterMatt’s Crime Dynamic Duos?

If not, we suggest that you head over to the link here to do so! That tournament is going to continue to transpire over the course of the next few weeks, though how long Shawn & Gus remain a part of it is totally up the show’s fans.

Are you excited to see Omundson back on set, and how eager are you to see Psych: The Movie 2 pretty much now? Be sure to sound off in the comments. (Photo: USA.)
