The Resident season 2 episode 21 spoilers: A blood-shortage crisis

The Resident season 2 episode 21 is an installment that will be airing close to the end of the season on Monday, April 22, and it could also be described as the sort of episode that generates one big emotional shockwave after the next. It’s one where the health of Nic’s sister Jessie remains a subject of conversation, and also one where a new crisis comes out as a hospital revolving around blood.

There are few things that matter more to a hospital than blood. They need it; they thrive by it. It’s the one thing that keeps them stable and running time and time again, given that without them, there is this propensity for matters to fall apart completely at the seams.

When the hospital has a severe blood shortage, Conrad must try every avenue to save a patient’s life. Nic receives devastating news and is left worrying about her sister’s health, while Mina and Devon work with a new anesthesiologist who is not what she seems. Elsewhere, Kit considers the future of her intertwining relationships and Bell has an encounter with a woman from his past in the all-new “Stuck as Foretold” episode of THE RESIDENT airing Monday, April 22 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. While this isn’t the finale, we think of an episode like this one as a foundational one leading up to the finale. This is where we can start to get the necessary information and insight that informs us about how the remainder of the season could go and some of the larger stories that do still need to be told. It’s an episode that is designed with the sole purpose of teaching us something new (take, for example, an element of Dr. Bell’s past) and also giving us a better since of where people could be at in the future. By the end of this season, it’s possible that these doctors could need a little bit of healing, mostly as a means of recovering from so much of what they’ve been through.

What we are most worried about

That Jessie won’t make it through to the end of the season alive. This is going to be so hard for Nic if it happens, given that for the better part of this series, she’s found herself in a position where she was forced to be a mother to this character herself. She’s tried to do everything that she can to help her, and to see her go out in the way in which she could within this series will be the hardest of hard pills to swallow.
