‘Supernatural’ season 8 spoilers: First video of episode 2

How badly do you want power? “Supernatural” more or less asks this question in the first promo for the second episode of this season, but there is also one careful reminder to go along with: power does not come without you having to give something important back in return.

This episode promises to not just build on was in our eyes a pretty excellent premiere, but also expand upon it by reminding us that much of the mythology associated with this show comes from pagan roots and not necessarily the more modernized versions of legends and various belief systems. This is why we have a nice little reference to Thor in this trailer, and we are going to see plenty of other interesting developments soon to go along with.

When it comes to who will be joining Dean in purgatory this time around, the photo attached here makes the answer pretty clear: it’s going to be none other than Misha Collins’ own Castiel who turns up, making what is his debut on the season following some intermittent stops last year. The one element of this appearance that is particularly troubling, however, is the idea that he may not make it out of purgatory alive. Dean claimed during the premiere that he did not necessarily see him breathe his last breath, but that he “saw enough” to know what was going to happen. (Then again, we have seen all sorts of miracles on this show in the past, and the phrase “saw enough” can really ended up meaning quite a few different things.)

Did you enjoy the premiere as much as we did, and what do you think this is going to lead to when it comes to episode 2?
