Next week, NCIS season 16 episode 19 is bringing you “Perennial,” and it could be an important one for many reasons. For starters, this could be a big episode for Jack Sloane! We haven’t seen all that many of them and when you have an actress of Maria Bello’s caliber on your show it does make sense that you would want some fantastic material for her to sink her teeth into.

For a little bit of insight into this episode, be sure to check out the official NCIS season 16 episode 19 synopsis below:
“Perennial” – Following an active shooter lockdown at a naval hospital, the NCIS team searches for a suspect who fled the scene. Also, someone from Sloane’s past was inside the hospital and is a key witness in the case, on NCIS, Tuesday, April 9 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
This episode is obviously going to have a lot of drama and danger to it — it’s hard to imagine anything otherwise when you think about the situation at the heart of this episode. Anytime that you have an active-shooter and a lockdown, you have to be worried — for the characters involved, and also the similarities that exist to horrific events that happen in real life.
The other rumors that are out there…
We’ve written about this already, but “Perennial” was written by Gina Lucita Monreal, who wrote “She” earlier this year. Meanwhile, we also know that the actress who played the landlord for Ziva’s secret ninja shack earlier this season is also going to be back. All of this suggests that we’re going to be in for another breadcrumb or two on this storyline within this episode — we don’t think that the writers are going to unleash every single aspect of this story right now, but the possibility of revisiting Ziva is worth being excited about … even if there’s no guarantee more information will surface in here. (Judging from tonight’s episode, where Bishop said she would revisit Ziva’s old shack at the request of the landlord, it feels all but assured.)
All in all, isn’t this still something worth thinking about and getting excited for? With the Ziva storyline, this show has constructed something that they really haven’t had in quite some time — a consistent, larger narrative that keeps viewers guessing and has a larger sense of mystery attached to it. Typically, you go into every episode just wanting a good case; now, there’s something more that you can add to the equation.
