Crime Dynamic Duos 2019: 9-1-1 (Bobby & Athena) vs. Chicago PD (Halstead & Upton)
In today’s second showdown, we’re putting the focus on Bobby & Athena from 9-1-1, who are squaring off against two of Chicago PD’s finest in Halstead & Upton. While they each have their own unique methods, they operate with some of the same goals in mind — keeping their respective cities a little bit safer. While ‘shipping isn’t exactly a main component of Crime Dynamic Duos, there’s certainly a layer of that with both of these pairs — Bobby & Athena, after all, are in an actual relationship, and there are certainly people out there hoping that Jay and Hailey will end up in one in due time.
If you’ve been around for past editions of Crime Dynamic Duos, then you know a thing or two about how this works — at the bottom of this article is a poll to vote for who you want to see advance! One duo will, and at the end of the month, we’ll officially crown the champion in all of their glory.
How voting works – Vote however often you would like! (Technical instructions for multiple voting can be found right above the poll.) We will keep this poll open until Wednesday, April 10 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. The victor here will face off against either Steve & Danny from Hawaii Five-0 or Bosch & Jerry from Bosch, so no matter who comes out on top here, you better believe that there will be an intense battle on the other side.

The competitors
Bobby & Athena, 911 (#4 seed) – While Bobby may not be a cop, he’s certainly in the business of saving lives and will do anything in his power in order to help others. He is, after all, as passionate and committed to the cause as anyone — when he and Athena combine their powers, they are utterly unstoppable. They make each other better and stronger, and aren’t afraid of taking on difficult rescues or cases that come their way.
This is the second straight year that Athena & Bobby have been in this tournament. In 2018, they made it past the first round, only for them to lose to a #1 seed in Kensi & Deeks after the fact. Will this year be any different for them? We do know if they win here, it’s certainly possible that they will be facing off against another #1 seed … but that may be a problem that needs to be addressed when they actually get there.
Halstead & Upton, Chicago PD (#5 seed) – They’re an excellent support system for each other out in the field, and that is without even mentioning just how effective they are as cops. While they may not be together, we feel like the pairing of Upton and Ruzek this season has in a lot of ways fueled the fire of Jay and Hailey even more — you cherish very scene that the two have, and we’re curious to see how things evolve from where they are now in the seasons to come. (We know there’s at least a season 7 coming, and we have to think that there could be more.)
Much like with Athena & Bobby, Halstead & Upton were thwarted in the second round of the tournament last year. One of them unfortunately isn’t going to make it that far this time around, and we imagine that this is going to be as intense of a round 1 showdown that you’re going to see because of it. There’s an air of unpredictability to the mix and there’s something about this that is exciting.
