Shadowhunters season 3 episode 17 preview: The story of ‘Heavenly Fire’

Is Heavenly Fire one of Clary’s last ones for severing her bond with Jonathan? One way or another, we know it’s going to be important on Shadowhunters season 3 episode 17 … which is fittingly titled “Heavenly Fire.” This will be a story about Clary’s internal struggle, and hopefully also about Alec getting ready for one of the most important moments of his entire life: When he proposes to Magnus. Let’s go ahead and cross our fingers now that Alec says yes.

Simon and Izzy team up on a secret mission to figure out what the Clave is hiding. Meanwhile, Clary is conflicted about Jonathan as the Shadowhunters try to get answers.

Where does some of this conflict lie? A lot of it may just be a testament to the sort of person Clary Fairchild is — remember that we’re talking here about someone who will do everything that she can to help other people — even though she does not care for Jonathan in the slightest, we do wonder what the impact of having him tied up like Hannibal Lecter will do to her. She’s got this bond, which heavily influences a great deal of her behavior, and she’s also just a person who wants to see the best in everyone.

As for the latest Simon/Izzy team-up mission, there’s nothing really left to say here other than “yay!” — it brings the two closer together. Even though the two did their very best to try and swear off relationships in tonight’s episode, who really thinks that this is going to last forever? The producers of Shadowhunters clearly have a sense of the Sizzy fandom and at some point, don’t they want to push these two a little bit closer together? We don’t think an engagement a la Malec is on the horizon, but they could end surprising one another with the way in which their relationship grows — in the midst of a larger mission as well.

As for what’s happening with Magnus and Alec, we don’t think that Freeform needs to give you any information in order for you to be excited. How can you not be based on the ending to tonight’s episode! We’re building towards something sweet and a symbol of years of passion — we just hope that it lives up to a lot of the hype that fans have who have followed this journey for so long.
