Outlander season 5: Is the first table read coming soon?
Could the first table read be tomorrow? If you’re buying what Sam Heughan is saying on Twitter today, it certainly appears that this is the case … but we also should remind you that today is April 1, a.k.a. the hardest day in the world to actually know if anyone is telling the truth. Regardless of when the first table read is, obviously we know that it’s coming up very soon and we’re at that point now where production is really starting to gear up.

Table reads are obviously an important time for any cast, since it marks one of those glorious opportunities to get everyone in the same room together in order to chat and celebrate what lies ahead — it has that sort of first-day-of-school feel where everyone can sit around and discuss some of what happened over their summer vacation (or in this case, a fall and winter vacation). They’re all going to have plenty of time to spend together in the months to come, whether it be at the show’s production base or whenever they venture out onto various locations. This is a show that relies heavily on realism and strives to create environments that feel real and immersive, so we are always excited to see what the locations team is cooking up.
If tomorrow does turn out to be the first table read, we do imagine that it will be commemorated in a number of different ways — think in terms of some social-media posts or videos with most of the cast in attendance. Of course, don’t expect any of the script to be actually read out for everyone to hear — even though readers of The Fiery Cross may have a pretty good idea of what’s coming up in terms of the season 5 story, the show does love to keep things under wraps. They know that they’ve got a few little moments that are going to be different going into season 5– and then also a huge moment that is otherwise known as Murtagh still being alive in this world when he’s not in a book.
