Elementary season 7, Instinct season 2 premiere dates confirmed
Take a look below for not just premiere dates for these two shows, but also others + some details on what’s coming up! CBS is seemingly looking to deliver one of their best summers of scripted programming in some time, and there’s a lot to like here if you love great mysteries and adventure series.
Elementary season 7 – Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu are back for their final stretch of episodes starting on Thursday, May 23 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. Basically, this will start the week after SWAT ends and there’s a nice, full-circle feeling here in that this is where Elementary started it all — Thursday nights. This will actually prove to be a lucrative timeslot for it given that Big Brother 21 is likely going to air in the hour before it starting in June.
For some more news as to what’s coming up this season, check out the attached synopsis:
In season seven, Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) and Watson’s (Lucy Liu) new careers as consultants for Scotland Yard are disrupted by news that a member of their inner circle has been gravely wounded in the United States. As Holmes’ stateside legal trouble – the result of a confession to a murder he didn’t commit – threatens to keep them from returning to New York, their greatest foe to date, tech billionaire Odin Reichenbach (James Frain), waits on the horizon to test their limits.
Instinct season 2 – One of our favorite mystery shows from last year is back, though you have to wait a little while to check it out. The 11-episode second season will start on Sunday, June 16 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time — one week after the Tony Awards! That should help to market the show, which is set in New York and features an icon of the stage in Alan Cumming.
Like with Elementary, you can get a little more insight via the synopsis:
In season two, NYPD consultant Dylan Reinhart (Alan Cumming) is reinstated after being put on leave, just in time to join his partner, NYPD detective Lizzie Needham (Bojana Novakovic), on their new case, the “Sleeping Beauty Killer.” During its freshman season, INSTINCT reached nearly 9 million viewers each week.
Blood and Treasure – Finally, those of you who want a little bit of action and adventure can get it through this show, which feels a little bit like National Treasure minus Nicolas Cage screaming about there being possible clues within the Constitution. This is going to premiere on Tuesday, May 21 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern, following the latest new episode of NCIS. Here’s how CBS describes it, if you’re curious for more details:
The serialized drama stars Matt Barr and Sofia Pernas as a brilliant antiquities expert and a cunning art thief, respectively, who team up to catch a ruthless terrorist who funds his attacks through stolen treasure. As they crisscross the globe hunting their target, they unexpectedly find themselves at the center of a 2,000-year-old battle for the cradle of civilization.
What’s our big takeaway from all of this?
Basically, if you love scripted programming during the summer, CBS is bringing you a LOT this summer. As someone who’s felt for a while that networks need to do more in the summer, at least we’ve got an example of one here that is taking the lead and trying to ensure that some good stuff gets done.
