Outlander video: David Berry teases Lord John’s ‘Untold’ scene

Outlander

Outlander Untold is perhaps one of the best things about the upcoming season 4 Blu-Ray. Sure, you’re going to have a chance to re-watch old episodes and behold some special features, but this marks an opportunity to actually see some bonus scenes! These are complete, canon sequences that are meant to add on to the story, and were filmed especially for the DVD/Blu-Ray/Digital collection. These aren’t deleted scenes.

If you look below, you can see David Berry himself introduce his own Untold scene, one that is featuring him alongside William. This scene is clearly meant to take place around the events of the fantastic “Blood of My Blood,” and it works within the context of the show for one very-large reason: The relationship between Lord John and his adoptive son is not always tangibly clear. We don’t spend hours upon hours watching these two communicate and because of that, there are gaps and holes that need to be filled. Our hope is that through this episode, we’re going to have a chance to see some of that explored in greater fashion — we’ll understand so much more of how they interact on the daily, separate from the ever-changing nature of their lives or visiting characters like Claire and Jamie.

Obviously, Lord John’s status and ways do influence William — there was such a dichotomy between Jamie’s worldview and his biological son’s within this episode, as Jamie is largely informed by his own struggles and also his marriage to Claire, a woman who sees beyond just the cultures and the prejudices of the times.

So what will some of the other Outlander Untold scenes contain? You can see a description of more of them over here, though personally, we’re stoked to see the tale of how Young Ian and Rollo first met! Rollo’s such a big part of this series that the origin story for this relationship is greatly appreciated. There were a handful of these scenes shot and we’re crossing our fingers already that we’ll get a chance to see a few more on the other side of season 5. Of course, in order to make that happen, the new season needs to start filming! We know that the cast is currently descending on Scotland (many are there already), so you’ll probably have a chance to smile and celebrate filming officially getting underway sooner rather than later.

For all of us at CarterMatt, that green light on filming also means a green light on additional news — and we couldn’t be any more thrilled about that! Outlander filming, of course next to the show actually airing (which is gonna be a while … better prepare for that now), is one of the most-exciting times of the year.

The Outlander season 4 DVD/Blu-Ray collection is going to be available on May 28 in the United States.
