Madam Secretary season 5 episode 19 spoilers: Is Elizabeth announcing?

Madam Secretary

Want to know what’s coming on Madam Secretary season 5 episode 19? This episode is the second-to-last one of the season but it’s important for so many reasons beyond that. Take, for example, the fact that it’s one that is going to move Elizabeth ever closer to making her big announcement that she’s running for President. Obviously, we don’t have to tell you just how important that is! It’s really what we’ve been waiting to see for most of the season in one way or another.

Did we know that Elizabeth wasn’t going to come out and make some sort of grand proclamation at the start of the season? Absolutely, but we feel like it has to happen soon for this show to stay true and proper to form! By the time this episode airs on April 14, it’s possible that everyone within the Democratic race will have already announced that they are running for President in the real world. Elizabeth certainly needs to follow suit, unless the idea for Madam Secretary is to end this season (and possibly the show) with us being extremely stressed over whatever the future could be.

For some more news now, CarterMatt has the official Madam Secretary season 5 episode 19 synopsis with some more news as to what’s next:

“Carrying the Gold” – As Elizabeth prepares to officially declare her candidacy for president, she must deal with fallout from a news article alleging she had an affair with President Dalton during her CIA days. Also, Mike B. and Jay adjust to the growing pains in their expanded roles as campaign staffers, and Elizabeth calls for a UN criminal tribunal against Myanmar military leaders over their treatment of the Rohingya, on MADAM SECRETARY, Sunday, April 14(10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Jane Pauley guest stars as herself.

While it’s great know that Mike B. is going to be sticking around for now — and that we’ll continue to have another story with global implications — but you can’t deny the primary focus of this story. This is about the Presidency and it has to be. There is a race against time forming so that she can establish herself in the field and get the ground running. We love the thrill that comes with campaigns — or at least scripted television campaigns. Since it’s fictional, you can detach yourself of any of the emotions and frustrations that come with watching all of this play out and instead, plant the focus firmly on the spirit, the enthusiasm, and hearing about ideas as to how to help the country.

Madam Secretary may be entertainment, yes, but we do think that there are valuable kernels of truth in it — information that all politicians can look for. That may not always be the case from the vantage point of policy, but for hope and inspiration? That’s something that we all need a little bit more of in this world, no matter who you are.
